Effective Date: September 10, 2026 • Version 1.0.0
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using PIIShield ("the Application", "Software"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using PIIShield, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
PIIShield is an offline-first desktop application designed to detect and sanitize personally identifiable information (PII) from local documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and image files. All AI inferencing, OCR, regex matching, and redaction logic run 100% locally on your machine without transmitting files or metadata to external servers.
Subject to your continuous compliance with these Terms and your legitimate purchase through authorized distribution channels (including the Microsoft Store), we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and run the Application on compatible Windows devices.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Automated entity detection systems—including state-of-the-art machine learning models and regular expressions—cannot guarantee 100% recall of all sensitive data across all formats and layouts. You bear the sole responsibility to manually review and verify all redaction boundaries prior to publication or third-party sharing.
You agree to use PIIShield solely for legitimate compliance, privacy protection, and document sanitization purposes. You may not:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
IN NO EVENT SHALL PIISHIELD, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, REGULATORY FINES, PRIVACY BREACHES RESULTING FROM UNVERIFIED REDACTIONS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
The Application includes permissive open-source components (including pypdf, pdf2image, Pillow, GLiNER, ONNX Runtime, OpenCV, and EasyOCR). Each component is governed by its respective open-source license, accessible in the Third-Party Licenses disclosure document.
We reserve the right to revise these Terms to reflect updates in legal requirements or application enhancements. Continued use following any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
